Does anybody use firewall software? I don't really know much about it all, but now that I'm in a 24hr preminant connection I'm thinking it might be a good idea since the machine's online all the time. Is it worth it? I don't run Linux or anything, just Win2k. But like I said it's connected pretty much 24/7 because it acts as an internet gateway for another machine.

Can anybody recommend any good software or am I being too paranoid? Also how would it affect my system/connection performance (if at all, but remember I'm only 56k).

If you have a second pc, set up linux und configure your firewall with ipchains and a seperat port forwarding. I use it and it´s the best firewall i ever used. The only problem is that you need some experience in Linux and network technologies.
