It's all about the music...
The music is starting to reach more people. That's how I see it. Who cares who the people are, or what they are dressed like. If you're there for the music, then that's all you need. Who cares what the people around you are doing, or wearing, or drinking for that matter.
People enjoy these events for different reasons. Most of us are there for the music more then anything. There are those people that like to go out and be seen, but fuck, who cares about them...it's the music that makes these events fun!!
I think that the "expansion" that the scene is going through can only help. New people get exposed to the best music the city has to offer. This leads to more local talent in terms of DJ’s, and tons of new ideas that will make Toronto a hot bed of creativity for the music.
I just like to enjoy parties in my own way. I'm with my friends enjoying the beats. If there is someone there that is enjoying themselves by sitting in a lounge sipping champagne, so be it. They're having fun, and that's all that matters.
To keep this scene positive and growing, everyone needs to just do their own thing. Have fun however you know how, and embrace the fact that more people are coming out to enjoy a positive atmosphere, with great people, and great music!!

Toronto has always been a poser city. its not getting worse in a sense except for the fact that the choices are becoming less and less. The posers always had a place to go and the partiers had their places. But, nobody is replacing the old party places with new ones as the clubbing cycle evolves. Its just safer these days to go after posers who buy crappy drinks and listen to radio music. I blame the media....Nobody wants the city or media to go after them after all right?
Its all BS and if i ran this country id make the media more succeptable for lawsuits over sensationalism.

Posers bother me because when a club is over run by them it affects the vibe. It also starts affecting the style of music that gets played. When people stand around looking pretty and give you the hairy eyeball as soon as you break out into a dance move (on the odd chance they are playing something good) its not a fun place to be.
Yes right now there are still fun places in Toronto. But, they are definately becoming less and less. The trend today is to open poser bars with crappy music that attract people standing around in their von dutch crap thinking they are hot shit.
I personally go to a club for the music #1, but if people are NOT sociable (a big problem in toronto's clubscene btw) its not a fun place to be at. Clubs after all were supposed to be for social interaction and music.
