Twice I've given Guiv (one of the Spundae founders) "hell" for not trying to expand into TO first. Spundae can throw a sick-ass party and Spundae + Godskitchen = insanity.
If they are looking at setting up a weekly event in TO then the Guv better watch out. The lineups that the Guv has been putting together for their big parties will look like tiddly-winks compared to what these 2 are capable of. Spundae alone has Max Graham, G&D, Cass, Lee Burridge, and Jerry Bonham as residents. Not to mention Taj and Gianni who in my opinion can destroy just about any international DJ in the world.

I _luv_ Taj and Gianni ... Gianni more because of his energy...Taj because you look at him and you think he'd be in a death metal band with his long hair and tattoos...then he busts out the trance and prog house

Glad they are locals. Gianni should be bigger than a lot of DJs out there. He's one the best regular opener for big DJs around, IMO...Kazell, a Spundae resident in LA, is way up there too.
Spundae is able to expand all over the place now thanks to them being bought by Godskitchen. A lot more money to put into taking chances in new cities. They've exploded in the past few years, and half of that's been within the past several months.

didn't Godskitchen buyout Spundae as part of their expansion plans into North America.. ? I don't believe that Spundae has ever thrown an event in TO before..

This is news to me... This must have happened somewhat recently.
As for throwing an event in TO, I think they might have thrown (or at least wanted to) throw an event with Sandra Collins headlining (possibly at Turbo)... or the event could have been in MTL (I dont remember). I'm not sure if the event ever happened though.

In terms of how certain DJ residency contracts carry over into Canada, it could be quite a complicated issue. It's quite possible that some of these DJs my already hold exclusivity contracts within the existing promoters in this city and how that will all play out with the onset of foreign promoters trying to crack into Toronto's market will be interesting to see..

Good point. For some reason I see them picking up Luke Fair in the near future. Digweed loves this guy and he is local to TO.
As far as transferring resident DJ contracts, I'm not really sure. Either way, it would make sense to have Max Graham play often in TO since he lives here (unless he's moved away recently).
