need some ideas guys....how you do you guys go aobut starting a conversation with a stranger? What do you start of by saying?

I am asking this because theres this beautiful girl who looks like susan ward http://www.fhm.com/girls/2001/show.asp?rank=17 in my calc class, and i want to get to know her, but shes never alone...we sit at the opposite sides of the lecture hall, but shes always with her friend.
Need some ideas to spark up a coversation with her while her friend is with her.....help meee

just ask her somthing about class... and when u ask a question, make sure it isnt one where she can answer by saying a simple yes or no... Like do u like school yes/no?
ask questions like, so why did u decide to go to this school, so u she can talk more and u can learn more...

Just be yourself and when u talk dont be like the typical guy...
say some funny stuff...
and u shall be right...
then when things seem to be going ok, u ask wanna go for a drink or some shit like that, or go to watch a movie.. peice of cake..

hum./.. i guess just be simple and be yourself...there was this guy in my college class last year ..one day he saw me parking my car and i have a volkswagen... apparently he loves volkwagens... so he came to me in class and asked me if i was into volkswagens,,, i said yes... and we starting talking about cars...by the end of the class had invited him to come to this VW car meeting we always have in my town...

and also getting compliments is cool too... if you see something she wears..and you think is cool ..tell her.. but dont just say.. " oh li like your sunglasses"

you can say something like.. " your sunglasses are so cool.. where did you get them? i've been looking for one... do you think they have it for men where you bought it??" .. now you got the girl to talk back to you....whatever you do... always say something to her that will require an answer with another question... dont just say it.. ASK.. ASK .. ASK.. but BE YOURSELF!!!!!...dont say stupid shit like..
"oh man i hate this class" ... she doesnt care what you think.. you know!! you need to make a good impression.. not a BAD ONE!!

if you are school.. ask her where the library.. or the office is...?????????

i dont know.. just dont be shy.. cause that is a BIG TURN OFF! for most girls!

hm.. they all sound like good ideas, but what if your incredibly shy to new people? I mean i use humor to get people to know me, like if i'm in an ackward situation.
Is writing a note like this a good idea?

1. Yes, you seem nice
2. No, your not my type(too ugly)
3. No, i'd rather be hit by a bus"
and if they like circle 3 then i can say "I can tell you have a good sense of humor, i like that.. are you sure you dont want to circle number one?"

i dont know but for me being a girl.. that is like pushing... i mean you are asking a girl out without even getting to know her .., you know what i mean?..

if you just want a one day thing.. then yes that is fine. but you are lucky if you get letter "a" circled.
i think taulb is more interested in making friends and something more with this girl... so if he shoots something like that at her she might not think it is funny at all.. but being himself is half the battle..

Why is it always up to the guy to strike up the conversation? Why don't girls ever try to chat guys up? What the hell happened to sexual equality!!??

yeah i know.
I meant girls that i've talked to before.. besides when i end up talking to them a lot and it seems like they like me they end up just wanting to be friends.. i dont understand, they flirt back but then ask you if your friend would go out with them.
Even if i talk to them all the time, and we have great conversations and she talks most of the time while i reply and ask for more while giving compliments it always gets messed up, liek they end up liking someone else and they tell you.. i mean do i wait to long and pass over to the "friend zone"?

Besides girls never compliment guys, i never heard "Wow you smell great.. what is that" or "Your hair looks nice, how do you do it?" and i bet i'll never hear "You got the smoothest legs ever"(atleast i hope i wont)

well...i've been at school lately so i guess i won't be posting as much as i did during the summer. Anyways, uisgdylast, i do the same thing. i suck at talking to people and when i'm nervous, i talk so quietly people have trouble hearing me. hehe geuss its funny now but not when it happens. And what do you think of just straight up telling a girl shes hot? i dunno...sometimes i just feel like doing that, but it seems dumb
