hey sup.

there are some video files, with various extentsions, when i play them i can only allow it to play/stop. i cannot forward or rewind. its like i will direct where i want it to forward on the play bar, but it goes back to its original place. it usually occurs with more lengthier files.

hey, so is there anyway i can download some codec or something else to fix this problem.

Which Media Player version do you have?

well ive run into problems with .wmv, .avi, and .mpg

wmv could be sometimes managed as a stream video file so you cannot search within it (windows media player 9 bug), nothing to say about avi and mpg.
Do you have any other media players installed? (like bsplayer, zoom player, divx playa etc)

i only get problems like that with .asf files, and i use a something called asftools to fix it. it lets you convert the file into .avi so you can fast forward/rewind etc.
