I have been mixing for around 3 months and it now take me around a min to beat match a song. As you practice you start to hear how much you have to change the pitch to make them match. It takes time tw1ch, when I started all I heard was horses galloping. Practice Practice Practice

i can do it about like 20-30 secs. but sometimes longer! just depends on the record. just practice. I have been mixing for 7 months now. i should be killer in a year or 2.

I got my first setup in late May and I feel I can beatmatch almost perfectly in about 60-90s but it depends on the tracks as well. Basically you just hear more and more instinctively how to do it. Practice makes perfect I guess. Good thing it's so much fun dj'ing.

it's quite normal that you're running out of time with some tracks as a beginner. Took me about 6 months to a year to get the basic beatmatching. Now I can do it in 10-40 sec, depends on the track the situation and what kind of mix I plan. Often it will be so close that I can bring it in and do the final corrections in the mix so nobody can hear it...

You also have to know when to bring in the matched song; if you don't time your CUE-IN correctly then the listeners will not properly be 'adjusted' to the next song. The whole point is to be seamless, continuing everything as one song. Think of a rollercoaster, you don't just get from bottom to top, there is that space between known as the 'transition'.

it took me about 6-9 months to learn how to beatmatch, now ive been mixing for about 3 years, i can match beats in about 20-40 seconds (depending on the tune like other people have said). when you can beatmatch this quickley it allows you to play around with the track, drop in samples etc.

yeha just depends on the track ,, some tracks u can hold for ages,, others are really fast transition .. progressive tunes tend to blend well.. more of a layering mix ,, whereas uplifting is sharp and strong,, u can really notice the next track coming in,,, not all the time,, but i like to hear that huge bass line kicking in .. u just need to know ur tracks really well.. im not one to write down the bpms of each track and the cue points.. thats just lame.. for me its more of a feeling.. and most of the time u need to pitch it up or down a lil depending on the track... it takes time... i been mixing for 5 years now.. not live or anything just coz i love the music..

I used to mix mp3's and I could beatmatch those in about 20-30 secs. Now I've made the switch to vinyl, I can still just about do it that quickly, but because I'm using belt drive TT's (yes, I know) I usually have to go back to refine the beatmatching just before I start to bring the song in, to compensate for the loss of the pitch.

i've been seriously mixing for about a month now and i'm just starting to beatmatch better. it still takes me about 2-3 mins to get it right and it's not perfect but it's not galloping either. practice is what it is. it was frustrating at first but last night i had some really clean mixes and i was just feeling it so i was up til 3am just mixing records. then i was late for a meeting with my preceptor in the morning and i got yelled at and i'm really tired today but screw it. it's worth it.

it really depends how the song is, and what's your musical level. im mixing for 2 months now and i was able to beat match 80% of songs almost perfectly after a month, practicing every day about 1 hour... i was a drummer for years, and it helps me A LOT. if you have the 'sense of rythm' you are very advantaged.
