The simplest way to distinguish the two is tempo. Prog House is much slower. Also, different tracks, different DJs, etc etc. Do a search for Ishkur's site and look on that for more info...
BTW, How is the trance scene in India?

Just listen to a dj like seb fontain,he plays progressive house, and then listen to someone like pvd who plays trance, u will no the difference, i prefere trance
