I understand the concept of it... increase supply when there is demand. My question is, how do you tell if you purchased an original or a repressing? I just bought "Sasha and John Digweed - Northen Exposure" 4x12" and I know it's a repressing but it has the same catalogue as the original, original copyright dates (1996), etc. So what exactly is the difference between my copy and an original, if any at all (except that mine is MINT )?

sometimes it's obvious, sometimes, you have to do some research

The numbers/text engraved in the vinyl might be different, but I'm not sure. If that's the case then it would be a bitch to figure out if you have a repressing of a record or an original because you would have to track down someone with an original (who knows that it is an original) to see how the numbers compare. Also, I don't think those numbers are available on most Discogs entries, although that would be pretty helpful information.
