You just need a mixer with sends so that you can send it to the effects processor and then recieve the response from it.

for effects over the master signal, just wire your master out on the mixer, into the input sockets on the effects unit, then wire the output of the effects unit to your amp/stereo.

if you have a mixer with send/return jacks, then you can use them to do specific effects on specific channels. it doesnt always sound as good though. connect them like this: send (mixer) > input (fx unit), output (fx unit) > return (mixer)
