Sliding notes in Fruity Piano Roll

Blatently doesn't work!!

Somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'm following the manual to the letter (that's probably what I'm doing wrong tbh )

OK to make things simple lets say I've got two long notes in the piano roll (a & b) over two patterns (1 & 2):

code:
(1) (2) |--------||---------| ____(b)____ ___(a)___

now I want (a) to slide up to (b) over say....the last 8 steps of pattern 1. If I'm reading the halp file correctly all I need to do is put a slide marker thingy with the square in the corner (c) in the piano roll at the note I want it to slide to, for the duration I want it to slide:
code:
(1) (2) |--------||---------| _(c)_ _(a)___________________

So I'm now assuming that by the end of (c), (a) should have climbed in pitch. Thus instead of just changing notes at the start of the 2nd pattern I'm shifting the pitch up.

Am I doing something wrong? Coz it's not making any difference at all.

I'm using Crystal Synth if that makes any difference.

Ta in advance (sorry about the diagrams)

its something to do with unison synths and such

with a mono (single voiced) synth it should slide, with synths that have multiple polyphony, it will proceed to play the new note. i think.

unless u specify the litte /| button in the piano roll for a slide...

On your second diagram, I believe at the end of C, it will go back down to A, so you'll need to paste Bafter the pitch bend. Plus it doesn't work with VST's I think.

I think so too.. Atleast I have never got it to work with VTSi's (though that really proves nothing)..

You got me all excited there, I never noticed that button before. It didn't seem to make any difference however.

KilldaDJ: I tried changing from a chord to just one note, and turned off poly. on Crystal. Also changed the synth to just one voice. Which didn't help either.

So I'm guessing the others are correct and it doesn't work with VST's.

If anybody's got any good alternative tips for easy sliding of notes I'd be happy to hear them (I did consider using the pitch control but the maths boggled me )

hmmz that should of worked. shit i dont know i personally never been able to get them to work but i assumed it was due to the cracked ass version of flp i have. this is gay someone should post how to do this as itd be very handy for this function to work. you might fuck around with in that same window where it says major and set the slide and then the major in which you want it to slide to maybe that will work dont know if anyone else can help this would be great issue to address

ive used the pitch its really rather simple just keep nudging it till you find the right pitch ive done that and thats what ive resorted to doing myself.

Slide/Portamento Line - Used to apply a slide/portamento effect to the notes in the Step Sequencer. Note that although this line appears for all generators, some of them might not support the portamento feature (the VSTi and DXi instruments and some Fruity Plugin generators do NOT support portamento).

Taken from the Fruity Manual.

If you want to emulate a slide, all you have to do is extend note A and make it overlap note B. [----means pattern 1,+++means pattern2]

This is what you're trying to do which won't work. You want to slide up with a slide note and you're stopping A at pattern 2.
---------------+++++++++++++++++
(C)
_____(A)_______
_______(B)_______

This is what I mean. See how a goes into pattern two and overlaps note B?
----------------+++++++++++++++++++++
________(A)_______
_________(B)_________

Yes, It's true that FL's slide functions doesn't support external VST's, but that doesn't mean shit. Look, sliding is another way of saying PORTAMENTO. When you get certain quality synths for use in a host, look for PORTAMENTO, or PORT. Some synths put this on to fool you, by just making that note slide in it's own pitch range (it sounds "syrupy" or "whirly")

Unfortunately for you, I've tried doing that with crystal and it doesn't seem to work for some reason...there are portamento tabs in the VOICE 1-3 sections, but no dice. It works on claw and SuperwaveP8 though.

Too bad...
