hey there... i will be in amsterdam for a night or 2 on the 28th of june, before heading out to germany....

im having some problems picking a cheap budget hotel, single room, close to centraal station..

i found this cheap hotel called "dam hotel" located at Damrak 31...people tell me this is not a safe areaa..

could u guys go here and tell me which is a good place to stay:

thanks for the reply.....that page doesn't help me much. This is because it doesn't give me an idea about the general surroundings of the area....stuff like that is not listed on that website,,,,,so i need information from people that live there -> YOU guys!

i've narrowed my search down to 2 hotels:

1) Hotel Torenzicht (Oudezijds Achterburgwal 93)
2) Quentin Arrive Hotel (Haarlemmerstraat 65)

please tell me which one is in a safer /better area.....thanks!

Just pick either of them! The area is oke, Amsterdam isnt a criminal city UNLESS you are stupid yourself to leave your bag wide open etc etc. Just dont trust all the turks/maroccans/etc that offer shit and play nice.

2) Shopping street at the canals, west of central station

Hotel 1 is much more fun

Note: Amsterdam not being save or having no-go area's is bullshit. Only thing you should be aware of is put your money at a save place (front pocket pants/inside pocket jacket) and don't buy drugs on the street. The Red Light District is probably the savest place in Amsterdam, since police and mafia are controlling the area.
