NHL strike

I haven't really understood this, but I've been hearing of a lot of players maybe going to the Swedish league next year.

Is there going to be a strike next season? What for? Low wages?

I think it'll happen.

The owners wants a better distributution of salaries by imposing a salary cap. Say 50% for the players, 50% for the owners.

As we speak, 75% of revenues go to the players, while 25% go to the owners. Many teams are on the verge of collapsing.

Okay thanks for explaining.

If the situation is that serious it seems like a good solution. And its not like you feel sorry for the players getting a bit less paid. heh

I can't imagine athletes being "over" paid. Sheesh. One week's pay for them is what I make in about 5 years...ok exaggeration. but u catch my drift.

If there is a strike it will be the end or it will be something the NHL could never recover from. Hope they come to an agreement.

players wants the rules of free market to prevail (status quo). While many owners cannot simply survive.

Every Canadian team except Toronto is in shit, maybe half of the American teams are in big trouble.

Many are talking that the league won't be the same ever after the conflict
