Talking Saving Money

For the last couple weeks I've been signing my debit card reciepts with crazy ass signatures, and like, only two have cleared in my bank account.

Like some gas I bought about a month ago, hasnt cleared yet.

Pretty weird, I guess they actually check your signature when the check is going to clear??

well...if its a debit card you dont need to sign. Only if you use it as credit do you need to sign. And if they thought your card was being used for fraud they would deactivate it.

It takes 2-3 weeks sometimes.

Not to rain on your parade

how would that work? isn't the signature supposed to be verified by the cashier? and if it didn't match wouldn't they be like "ummm no i'm sorry this isn't your card, give it up, asshole"?

Thats what I thought too. A great way to save money is to build your credit, beacause it allows you to pay over time for things you Need. Buying things you Want on credit is a bad habit to get into. And a good way to build up credit is to get a loan from the bank, deposit the money into a cd account (Certificate oif Deposit?), then when the money is due, withdrawl it, pay back, and bankl the interest. Repeat with a slightly larger sum until you have good credit!

When I got my Old Navy card the lady said "you have very good credit, unlike most of the people we get in here." Heh wow I guess that was a compliment!? I do have good credit although it took forever to find a bank to finance the car I bought last year. Even though I work for a bank, our rates were kinda high.
I'm trying to save money right now though because I'm taking a big trip in the fall. Not going to the clubs has been helping. But not going to the mall has been killing me!

As far as your debit card receipts go, it depends on the vendors. Some of my transactions take weeks to clear, whether they be a check or an ACH transaction. Mine usually take 2 or 3 days but since I work for a locally-based suburban Detroit community bank, the checks I wrote in northern Michigan last weekend still haven't been paid yet.

i have wonderful credit, but that's because i'm always on time with payments, pay back loans that i've had to take out, and don't go overboard...i can get a loan for pretty much whatever i want...

you should all work on building up great credit..it really pays and its easy to do...
