Graphics Card

I know there's probably a million threads about graphics cards, but I'm looking for one which supports dual monitors and I'm looking to spend as little as possible, maybe £50-£100? Any help appreciated.

Ati Radeon 9600Pro cards are pretty good. They've dual monitor support and aren't very expensive..

Unless he plans on gaming, I have to say that this may be overkill for him. An old radeon 7xxx series with dual head would do just fine if he isn't gaming.

don;t get the radeon 7500 series whatsoever..... it's crap b/c of some small hardware/driver faults.

I hate myself for buying it.

Matrox is the leader in multi-head desktop environments. Just about every desktop video card supports multi-head displays now, but Matrox has been around for a while and I can recommend a Matrox card to anyone that is using their computers soley for music only...

I use a G550 and I havent had any problems with it.

Warning, 3D applications/games dont run well at all on the older cards, but they are very cheap, less than a $100 USD.

I never had one, but I never heard about any problems with it (and if there were wide-spread problems, I would have heard about it). I'm just saying, get something old if the gaming aspect doesn't matter.

I forgot to mention; My computer can be updated, but my girlfriends is upto date with the latest hardware. I just installed an Abit/ATI 9600 video card and it works great with the setup we have downstairs...

Monitor 1 -- Monitor 2 -- TV

I didnt even have to install the driver CD into the computer, i just installed the card and downloaded the catalyst drivers from ati.com and I was off and running. I love it. 3D games look great and smooth action also. This is the one I got...

Its only $100 USD, great value...

Agree with JTZ on Maxtrox. Stable for the two computers monitors.

But anyway, 9200 ATI radeon should be more then enuff as Im using that. I just need a two monitor supported. It doesnt matter me much on the Gaming anyway it beyond the budget.

ive got a question actually about this stuff---ive read that getting a really big card actually does more harm than good for music production. is that true? like it eats cpu while its running...basically kinda like what vert was saying about overkill.
