The one thing I didnt understand from this guys presentation is where the VSTis are located - do you install them to a HDD on the box or do they run over the ethernet link?
An interesting product though.

There are two types of plug-in software on Receptor: innovative freeware, as well as "premium" software from the world's greatest commercial VST developers. Thirty day trial versions of all premium plug-ins are available in every Receptor.
To purchase the premium software, you download a key into Receptor's USB iLok dongle, which transports your software licenses from unit to unit.
I think that explains it pretty much...
Means that the VSTs are already on the box, so I figure that it would be possible to install your "own" VSTs to it.

Well, I think that it wouldn't be so hard to built one of those by yourself. Just need a 19" rack case (well not crucial, any kinda case will do), a decent processor, motherboard, some RAM ,Hard Disk Drive and a soundcard ofcourse. And lots of extra time and money.
Though getting the wrapper software to run VSTs on linux might be a bit hard, so you'd had to go with Windows.

or use free_ST or vstserver under linux, like i do. I use the first one, but not every vsti plugin works perfectly.

I'm not so good when it omes to computers. But what exactly does this thing help us to do ? Take the load of vst to another PC, and the load of your sequencer on the other PC ? If so, isn't it cheaper to just upgrade your one pc instead of buying two ?
