VST automation on Cubase SX 2.0

Need some help on Cubase SX 2.02. How do I actually use the automation on the VST e.g Pro53.

What I did is to hit the Rec button on the Track, and hit R and W on the PRO 53 VST. The automation did follow what I did but it was on manually. I mean where can I actually see the graph and use the Pencil Tool to draw a proper automation?

By the way, I know if lets say I wan the sound of Pro53 to be in wave, I would had to export out as wave and import in back to lay on the Audio Track. But how come it told me that the 2 output Channel will be on MONO?

Anyone can help me for this?? Thanks!

Josh >> You have to open the Piano Roll view for the track, then right-click and choose the last menu-item (it's something like "Add Controller..." or "Show Controller..." I don't have it in mind right now ).

i'm not sure how Pro-53 works for automation.. but you may have to look at the included documentation for the MIDI CC peramiters.. they can be adjusted in the bottom of the piano roll where Velocity normally is (change the MIDI CC with the drop down on the bottom left)

I try looking at the Show Automation. But it does not show anithing. Let say for CUT OFF. I can do it manually when R W are on. But not the graph. Most imptnt is to get the graph out so I can do it. For hardware, I had no problem. But for VST on Cubase, I had this big problem.

Alanzo - Wat MIDI CC u mean?? U mean the graph? But it aint showing me anithing.

OMG> Look like i gonna stuck at here.

Or shall I use FL rewire and use my Pro53 Automation over there? Long winded. But im sure, there should be a way. Any expert here kindly for a help?? THanks.

By the way, Thanks Alanzo, Subtle & Ace303 help. Appreciate it alot.

Hmm, open up pro-53 - have it set up with a midi channel. Click the W, press record, move a knob (cutoff for example) then stop recording. Then if you right click on the bit with all the tracks - same menu as Add Audio Track, Add Midi Track etc. and click 'Show Used Automation'. It should then show up, if you then click R it will turn blue and you can edit from there with the draw tool or by moving those black dots about. Hope that makes sense..

Some wierd ways here.

Open up pro53, hit the W button on pro-53 to record automation. Hit the R button ON pro-53, not on the midi channel. The automation track should pop-up in the sequencer window for pro-53. Click on the little cross to bring up the automation for each dial.

Oh gosh! Thanks Hey Cheggy! Lucky you reminded me of the automation track. Because when i scroll down, i fianlly saw it!!!! Thanks a MILLON!!!

thanks neil_f as well for the help!! Cheers!

But still one more qtn to ask, when I export out as wave, it mention the 2Output will be in MONO. Meaning that when I did a song on the VST, my song is MONO instead of stereo?? How can it be set as stereo? It prompt out when I wan to export as wave

um .. u do not hit record for automation ... just hit the r w buttons then hit play ... then turn w off after you have finished writing autos

and for a bounce you need to select stereo interleaved on the mixdown dialogue

Are you exporting in mono, stereo split or stereo interleaved? You should be exporting in stereo interleaved.

open up the mixer and check that the audio channel for that instrument has 2 VU meters on it to make sure it is stereo. If it only has one, then it is in mono.

All I have to offer, sorry.
