PC Speakers - Logitech z-5300

http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage...-121-106-04.JPG

Fedex is on their way to my dorm with these, according to the online tracking service. 280W RMS power, and 560W max. They look to be some great speakers, especially at $150 with shipping.

I'll post my impressions of them later once it's all set up.

Yeah. Ok. Time for a rant.

My speakers got here (arrived at campus) at 4:34PM today.

The mail truck delivers packages to all the dorms at 4:00PM. Every day. Never early. Never late. Thus, my package was not on the truck.

The mail distribution center closes at 5:00PM. Never closes early. Never closes late.

I have class from 4:00-5:20 on MWF.

Thus, my speakers are here. On campus. About a block from here. In the damn storage facility. And I can't pick them up until morning.

DAMN IT. DAMN IT. DAMN IT.

I hate this.

/rant

Got the speakers this morning. Took about twenty minutes to set them up, which is considerably less time than my Sony Home Theater took to wire up and configure.

I've never been so impressed by a set of speakers. These are, bar none, the absolute nicest-sounding computer audio components I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. I'm in a dorm, though, so they could present some problems in the future. The subwoofer, for example, puts out more bass than my home theater sub. It kicks HARD.

Still in the process of testing, but at this point I can reccomend these to ANYONE looking for new computer speakers.

you have any idea if the logitech Z640 is any good? im thinking about getting those simply because they're only 50 bucks for a six piece...71 watts...which is nothing compared to yours but im not looking to spend that much money on speakers

I had Altec Lansing 641s in which subwoofer died a few weeks ago and got the Logitech Z560 as replacement. They're great when I wired in the 4 sattelites into the system from the old 641s so I have a total of 8. I know I get no increase in power by doing so, but these sattelites certainly don't distort at any level of power since I'm pushing them below their capbilities. I can't push 400W anyhow unless I'm just shitfaced drunk and the wife's not home.

Great deal on the Z5300s! Good choice! You got to have that trance with the definite THUMP!

You don't really miss it unless you ain't got it, like the burnt-out POS Altec 641 subwoofer.

You can grab the z-640s if you just twiddle around with music. If you're looking for REALLY good sound, though, go with the z-5300s or z-680s. The 680s are way overpriced, in my opinion, however. I'd go with the z-5300s. They are absolutely incredible. Been listening to them all afternoon.

My dad has the z-340s. Little 2.1 system for the family computer. That thing puts out some serious thump for the size. The z-640s are a set of 340s with 2 more satellites and a center channel. Same speakers and sub, though.

Don't be cheap. Get the THUMP!

Seriously. You're only talking $50 more for an exponential increase in power and quality. A couple tanks of gas these days. Speakers for life, until you get old like me and have to keep boosting power as you lose hearing. And you can crank them, like now..........

Definitely get them... I had them for quite a while. Excellent speakers, superb sound quality. Better deal than the ones from creative. Did I mention the subwoofer on this setup. The volume knob on the woofer is on minimum volume and I had to decrease it using volume controls in Windows and it still rips the a powerful bass. If I crank the woofer volume all the way up and if I increase it in Windows as well, then neigbors, cops, ambulance, fire department and possibly national guard will come knocking on my door.
