Powerfull Multi Chanel Amp

I have 4 Cerwin Vega AT-12s and I'm looking for an amp that will be able to power all of those at once. The amp needs to be a 4 channel with 500 wats per channel so I can drive all 4 at the same time at full power. Does any one know of any amp in particular that fits those requirements or a good site I could look at to see what is on the market for what I neeed. Also, will it be at all possible to find an amp like that for under $500? And if not, would it be cheaper for me to buy two seperate amps that have 2 channels, 500 wats per channel? And if so, which amp would you reccomend?

Tkx

There are some amps that have 4-channels powered, but not for under $500.

But why not buy an amp that has 2x1000 W of power, and link your speakers? That means driving two speakers per channel.

I'm sure you can find a decent 2 x 1000 W amp for a nice price.

This is a choice where I think 2 amps at 500W per channel would be better. One amp powering all 4 would need higher ohm settings and would heat up quicker. Keep em cool and buy 2 dual channel amps.
You should also decide wether you're gonna go stereo to 2 stereo speaker pairs, or mono to each speaker. I highly doubt you're gonna find a 4 channel 500W/chan amp for $500 or less unless you shop for used.

Crown, QSC, Alesis, and several companies under HHB(www.hhb.co.uk) make pretty sweet amplifiers.

qsc amps are the best bang for the buck. We have been using a rmx-1450 on the road for over 2 years every week without problems. Here's a link for their 4 channel amps, I don't think they will be in your price range, and im not sure if your looking for a 500w amp at 8ohms, or if your looking for a 500w amp at 4ohms, Im also not sure if you need a amp that needs 500w peak or rms. If you give more info i would look up some stuff for you.

qsc 4 channel amps

Truthfully, I dont really know the ohms, or much else about my speakers. I just recentl got serious about Djing and sound so I am quite ignorant. I have four Cerwin Vega AT-12s. I dont know the ohms, because the Cerwin Vega site does not list specs on old products. Im not even sure of their watt rating, from what Ive heard on the web they are rated for continuos usage at 250 watts. However, since I primarily need to fill up high schol gyms when I am mobile Djing, 4 speakers at 250 watts does not give me the volume I need. So instead of buying more speakers, which I can not afford to do right now, I plan on running them on higher wattage. I was hopping to run them at 500 watts each. Is that a dream on my part to think I could run my speakers for 4-6 hours at twice the wattage they are rated for, or do people normally "over cook" their speakers. Im just looking to get the greatest possible amount of sound out of my 4 speakers. Also, I could probally push my budget up to $800 if that will buy me a high quality, long lasting amp wih the power I need. Thanks for the advice.

usually the harder you push your speakers, the more they will distort and sound bad. In some cases w/ limiters involved, the speakers will produce less spl when pushed harder. If i was you i would get two rmx-1450 for $400 ea. I would first start w/ one amp and see how that works. IMHO that should be way more than enough for your needs, and it's a good amp to keep so when you do upgrade speakers, the amp will be up to snuff'

Ok, scratch the last post. Truthfully, im not sure if your cerwin vega at-12 will do what you want it to do. Those speakers are not intended for that sort of abuse. If you need to fill a large room with sound, check out something else like jbl eon g2 or maybe the b52 matrix 1000 active sub, cab package. The B52 goes for $700-$800 for the whole package, while the eons range from $500+ for their active.

Has anyone got any experience with "Samson" amplifiers? They have several models from 250 to 1000 watts/channel 4 ohms, the S-1000 I linked to is 500 watts, about $400 US. Plus a line of subwoofer amps.

I was thinking it might be an idea to have two smaller amps so you have one for backup and maybe you only need one amp for smaller events.

No offense, but you might me jumping the gun a bit...

You don't know the ohms, which is very important.

You don't know what the exact wattage ratings are, and you plan on driving them with twice the watts that you *think* they need. Find out more info about your speakers first. If you buy a 500 wrms amp and blow the speakers, you've just wasted a bunch of cash. If you want to fill a big space with sound, you need real speakers, imo.

You probably don't want to drive these speakers too hard

Yes, lol those are them. So, it sounds like I am out of my league with my AT-12s. Is a package probally my best bet for getting enough sound? I lloked at the b52 one and I will keep that in mind. Also, does any one have any other packages they could recomend. I have spent quite a bit of time on the inteernet with gogle searches looking for more info on my speakers but I can not ind it anywhere. Does anyone knw of any site that list the spec on lots of speakers. I bought them off Ebay so I have no real connections.
