feed on sub rythms. delay time shift , pitch up pitch down on ever 2nd hundreth or a beat ,, this will give you the basic " claticly clat " on percussion , by scattering the sound to fill spaces that are to small to be filled manulay by input on a sequencer,
i think this is what you on about,
its a lot easyer to show rather than explain

Well, most max walder tunes don't use anything too crazy as far as perc samples go. Most of em are rather basic perc samples, just filtered to various freqs and layered, layered and layered again. You want to create a sort of "busy" sound, and that's achieved with samples that are differently filtered, panned, sequenced, and then layered atop of one another.
