help with pro tools

I just layed down my first demo in pro tools and it's driving me crazy! I can't for the life of me figure out how to get my demo consolidated into one .wav file so that I can burn it to a CD...I have 4 audio tracks, two are the L and R channel of the entire mix, and the other two are the L and R channel of the intro/outro. HELP MEEE!

Thanks in advance!

yo, I understand that you have 4 audio tracks, why dont you just edit the tracks and drag the wave froms into one main stereo track.

I am having a hard time understanding though what i quoted. explain more, and we can help ya out.

Well basically I have four audio tracks running. Audio 1 and 2 are the Left and Right channels for the entire length of the demo. Audio 3 and 4 are only active at the beginning and end of the demo, they are just the intro and outro, and are also the Left and Right channel. I just need to get it into a file that I can burn to a CD. I tried the bounce to disk command and i bounced it as a .wav file and that seemed alright, except for the fact that it was 860 Mb for a 56 minute demo.

Also, when I try to put it into a Nero session, it says that it wont accept that file type.

Hey man, ok, first off, i dont know ANYTHING about ProTools, but thats not what i can help you with.

You seemed to have a problem with the fact that your .wav file demo was 860Mb for only 56 minutes in length. Sorry to say but .wav files are very large, and thats what u have to deal with if u want quality.

That being said, you want to look at what options ProTools has for recording, the main options you have when recording in .wav format are:

1: What Channel format you want to use (Mono or Stereo)
2: What sample rate you want to use (8000-96000Hz)
3: How many bits per sample you want to use (8-24)
4: What format of wave you want to use (ordinary or extensible)

ie. I just tested converting an 8 minute song for you in Stereo format, at 96000Hz, using 24 bits per sample, using an extensible format, and the song came out at 287Mb.

I'm sure you can change these recording options in ProTools, but if you cant you need to get a program that will change formats for you.

The BEST (by so friggen far) that I've found is, "Creative Media Source Organizer" this program converts files SO quickly, well worth getting.

Hope that helps in decreasing the size of your files to something useful

btw, remember i dont know ANYTHING about ProTool's, so if I just wasted 5 mins of your time .......... sorry

here is what you do

run the two line outs into a mixer at the same levels, send the linout on the mixer into the line in on the card and record. no offesne but it doesn't sound like you are sending anything off to sony so i am sure they won't mind and if anything it will be remastered in contract.

well thanks all for making me look like i have absolutely no knowledge of sound equipment or files. I figured it out tho, when i recorded it, i chose all my tracks as mono instead of stereo, so i needed twice the tracks to do the same thing. im just going to re-record it in stereo.
