Smiley DJ Deep Progressive scene...

hi.. i personally think that at this moment in time the progressive scene is at its peak... there are loads of quality progressive tracks being produced which are absolute quality...whereas in the weeks gone by... i have been disappointed..... for example... pmt-deeper water (sander k mix), paul nord-hedgehog (saeed and palash mix), hamel-close, and my fav of the moment> sean cusick-paraiso obscuro.. oh hell what a track....!!! .... what does everyone else think?

Everyone is going Proggie !!!!!! Even DJ's like Tiesto, AVB and Corsten who previously used to spin what I'd call Uplifting Trance are dropping more progiee trax....not in the same vein as Sasha or Digweed mind u...cause they are the kings of progressive scene.

The future of Trance (IMHO) is a nice blend between Progressive and Uplifting....

BTW. I love the way that producers are blending House/Techno elements with Trance choons....Integration is good !!! What does everyone else think ?

Thumbs up

I agree, i really like where trance is headed right know. I find that Tiesto, Corsten and other "trance" dj's are moving away from the dinky, gino/standard uplifting trance from yesterday and they're moving into the darker, deeper uplifting progressive beats. I guess you'd call this progressive trance??? whatever it is it sounds good and gets me and i'm sure many other people going!!!

Who knows maybe the whole scene is evolving and this could explain why yesterday dj's such as Oakenfold just don't shine anymore, cause the tunes they are used to selecting (ie. newly produced trance) are just not up to par anymore... (just a thought)

What does everybody else think???

well, I think epic/upfliting might just be blended in with progressive (ugg, maybe not i dunno) but an example would be Urban Train...uplifting yet progressive. as for now, im just plain confused lol!

DJ Tiesto originally spun more progressive stuff. Around 1997 he spun a lot of Qattara stuff, which is kind of progressive and when he did spin uplifiting stuff he also spun some progressive tracks e.g BT "Mercury & Solace".

i wish there was a proGaddict.com

i love progressive so much.. its kinda like my fave stuff to sit & listen to the future IMO is a blend btween techno, hard trance & progressive... i hear stuff like max graham - sepia coming out and drool

progressive is so wide though... prog trance is very different to prog house etc, but its all called progressive and often played in the same sets... also along with a lot of breakbeat... nyah ashtrax!!

Schiller - Das Glockenspiel (Humate Mix)
Sasha - XPander
Bedrock - Heavens Scent
Sven Vath - Barbarella (Deep Dish Remix)
Medaway - Baseline
James Holden - Horizon
Schiller - Ruhe
Max Graham - Airtight
Emerson & Sasha - Scorchio
Luzon - Baguio Track
Andy Ling - Fixation
Tilt - Dragon
Sander Kleienberg - My Lexicon
Future Sound of London - Pappua New Guinee

If u have and still think that progressive is boring then I'm sorry u don't know what qualtiy music is. Just because it doesn't have 140bpm and huge breakdowns doesn't mean it's not good music. Progresssive is the future of trance (you'd better believe it) so u might as well get used to it.

I like both progressive and uplifting trance. I think both kinds are cool in different ways. A set with only progressive tracks may get boring, and on the other hand a set with only uplifting may get cheesy or overlifted.. hehe

Schiller - Das Glockenspiel (humante mix) is one fav tracks at the moument. When I first heard it I didn't like it much, I couldn't understand why people told me it was so good. But after a couple of real listenings I started to understand the vibe, and got addicted It's so deep..
