I have a few questions on Cubase. im thinking about buying it but im not sure if its right for me. I will be making trance and maybe some trip-hop or ambient. I have 2 main questions:

1. IS their any good books/websitee that help out noobs at Cubase?

2. What stuff comes with it VST wise. Will i have to buy some VSTs or are there some that come with it? ( i know that i will need to buy better VSTs as i progress but just for starters).

3. Also what VSTs should i get for beginning if they need to be purchased?( I have an intermediate understand of using a synth)

there is a cubase forum, then kvr-vst.com. books? 'cubase sx power' by i cannot remember who, and a lot of documentation included, along with the 'getting started guide' which should get you rolling pretty quickly.

included are lm7 and lm9, disgraces of drum samplers. since you will definitely need a drum sampler, you can go for either native instruments battery, linplug rm4 or fxpansion dr-008. there are free ones line fxpansion dr-008 or computer music sr202 (included in every issue of computer music magazine). along with that, you get a1 (2osc synth made by waldorf, pretty good one), one pretty nice string synth (embracer) and one bass/lead (monophonic) synth (monologue). effects? two reverbs, two delays, dynamics processor (compressor/noise gate/limiter), very good multiband compressor, 3 disortions (one of them multiband), tape saturator, 3 filters, chorus, flanger, phaser, ring modulator and bit reducing plugin.

you can download some free ones which are very good, like rgcaudio triangle 2, synth 1 by ichiro toda, superwave p8, ilblit.
there is also a whole lot of free effects available, like retrodelay (analogueish delay), ambience (reverb), kjaerhus audio plugins (delay, reverb, compressor, phaser, limiter, chorus, eq), mda plugins (delay, amp simulator, distortion, detune, limiter, overdrive, vocoder, .... ), tls audio maximizer (mastering limiter) etc. etc.
this should be fine for the beginning, and you will not have any costs apart from cubase and your internet account
if you want to buy something from the big league, check out native instruments' pro53, absynth and fm7, refx vanguard, novation v-station, rgcaudio pentagon and z3ta, superwave performer, arturia minimoog and moog modular, audiorealism bassline (the finest 303 emulation there is), linplug albino, imageline sytrus.

Hi can anyone tell me how to load a single sound in Cubase?!

1. There are loads of books on using Cubase, try searching in your local magazine dealer or some shop that has those kinds of stuff

2. There are VST`s shipping with Cubase yes.. but they are indeed the worst bundled VST`s of FX and synths in any sequencer of it`s type.. but they`ll do... for a while..

3. try the Vanguard or the V-Station, the Vanguard is a lot cheaper, but those synths will give u a basic understanding how a synth works
