You should have no problem finding ps2 modchips in GTA. Since I live up by Markham there's numerous shops that sells these. At Pacific Mall (kennedy/steels) shops are selling a modded ps2 (no swap, so I'm assuming it's the messiah 2 chip), 2 controllers, 5 games and memory card for $600 (no tax). I'm sure if you shop around you can find it cheaper, I found it before for $450 but that was b4 the no swap chip, so I'm not sure how good a deal this is. I believe they sell the chip and mod it for you as well.
I have so many ps2 games but I don't have a ps2 LOL, I should be picking one up myself soon along with a DVD burner.

Thanks for the info. Its just that I have no clue where to go to buy the mod chips. Buy any chance do you know anyther places or specific areas in the GTA area? Any info would be appreciated. and that ps2 not swap(iam pretty sure its a messiah, cause i like the no swap thing) looks ok, but the price can be a bit better.

well you don't have to pay 6 bones if all you want is the chip. Remember it's no tax and you're also getting the ps2 too. If you just want the chip you should be able to get if for $100 (i think) and maybe $50 for installation. As for the GTA I'm not too sure but they're definately around.
also check out this link, it's a ps2 forum. You may find some more info there.
A store called "Gen-X" right at Bloor/Landsdowne, right outside the subway station (the exit w/ a church across the street not too far away, because there's another exit 1 block away)...it's a small store right beside an internet-cafe. They do chips and sell copied games of your choice for $5 ...you just gotta wait for them to burn them after you give them your list.

at pac mall you need to pay them $250 for the mod chip & the installation, which is a rip off considering the mod chip only costs $100.
you can't buy just the modchip off them either. if you wanna try to mod it yourself : www.modchip.ca

Guys
The most reliable chip these days is Magic 3 - the benefits include:
1. No swap disc
2. No BOOT (no need for gameshark)
3. Quieter and more efficient performance compared to other modchips
