[27/28-09-2007] Awakenings Detroit weekend

quote:

Vrijdag 28 september
22.00 - 00.15 Shinedoe
00.15 - 01.15 Quince (live)
01.15 - 03.15 Jeff Mills
03.15 - 04.00 Counterpart(live)
04.00 - 05.30 Robert Hood
05.30 - 07.00 DJ Bone

Zaterdag 29 september
22.00 - 00.00 Aron Friedman
00.00 - 01.30 Stacey Pullen
01.30 - 03.00 Derrick May
03.00 - 04.30 Kenny Larkin
04.30 - 05.30 Scan 7 (live)
05.30 - 07.00 Steve Rachmad

Kaarten zijn verkrijgbaar via Ticketbox en www.awakenings.nl/tickets.

What an awesome lineup!

I was just at DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival) this past weekend and what a fab time. 3 days of nothing but outdoor partying, afterparties and then hotel after-afterparties

Such a great idea for Awakenings to through a Detroit Awakenings

They've done it before, but it's definitely been a while. Larkin was on the Saturday line-up the previous Awakenings weekend (10th anniversary weekend), I hope he does a better job this time. Pretty poor set to me, although I've read many raving reviews from others.

At the moment, I'm definitely preferring the Friday. Mills is always decent, and Robert Hood was magnificent the last time I saw him (though that was in a far more intimate setting). Might just buy myself a ticket in advance and decide whether or not to go later on.

I managed to catch Robert Hood last year at DEMF and he was by far amazing. I didn't know who he was at that time. So it was a complete surprise. Mills closed DEMF this year and I was far from impressed. I wish that they had picked someone other than him to close. There was a total lack of track selection, as well as buildup in the set. I was expecting so much more from him and he definately did not deliver. I think Richie should have closed the place seeing as he rocked it out 10x more.

Mills must have had somewhat of an off-day then, I've seen him three of four times and it was nothing short of great every time.

He can be a bit monotonous throughout his sets, but he definitely knows how to keep a crowd moving..

As for Hood, yes, he's a legend.

well, maybe I will take your word on that and give him a second shot if I ever get the chance to see him again.

He did play The Bells though which was pretty classic.

I've never heard him play a set where he didn't play The Bells
