I'm sick of everyone using it. When you complain about caribana its because you are racist. When you dont give a minority a job because they dont qualify, you are a racist. When something goes wrong for somebody who is a minority its because they are (insert race here).

There are many instances still of true bonefide racism but sadly they are getting drowned out by all the fake claims. Whenever somebody screams racism these days sadly my initial reaction is "whatever". Hasnt anybody ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? Sadly now its the boy who cried racism.

i agree... the society is way too paranoid about race sometimes to a point when its ridiculous

i agree that people do use the race card too often. But, in all fairness sometimes you do get cases where a coloured person maybe better able to point of a race related incident than somebody who is white.

example: i(im from india) went up to a friend's cottage, north of perry sound this weekend. When we went to the beach, i could see everybody looking at me. My friends(all white) just went on like they usually would. I was pretty much treated the same as everybody else, but its just not nice having everybody stare at you! People were making comments to me and not my friends, they were egging me on to jump off a cliff. Why not my friends? And yes, i was the only coloured person on the beach.

just because we make others aware of our feelings, or situations doesnt mean we are playing the race card.

Lol a friend of my mom's was telling me this theory that he was reading as a joke of course that there's a piramid...and on the bottom of it is the white male...animals, minorities, women...everything is above him, has some sort of protection, and the white male is the most unprotected creature it was really funny...I guess you had to be there to see his explanation.

This is how many white males feel this day and its not without reason. The is a huge double standard these days and what i said above is a great illustration of that. We as a society are told that racism only happens when white people do wrong to minorities however when its the other way around its because white people somehow deserve it.

We need to correct this if we ever want to be as one in unity in our society.

I was stared at constantly in Argentina in areas that never see tourists. Why? because i was different and nobody was used to it. Did it bother me? No way!

Also, people made untrue assumptions about me down there based on their perception of north americans. Again, did that bother me? No way!

I think often times many people of colour tend to have persecution complexes. However, Those who constantly feel persecuted always will be persecuted. In other words, sometimes its all in your head.

One thing that is dissapointing about the race card, is that it is often used improperly, thus distracting from the real issues.

Racial Profiling exists in the U.S, and to a lesser degree here, however the real danger to society IMO is classism. The cops are busting the chops of tha poor folk, not just poor black folk.

Its great to hear it from a strong black figure like him.

myself, I hate dumb people. natives, blacks, whites, latinos whatever.
It comes across as racist, but I only mock the certain few who are useless twats, and not the general mass of that race.

but racism is more prevalent than I think Jayx1 realizes. come to alberta. get outside the big cities. then youll see it.

dude most of the people are from the city! they are just cottage goers, now tell me how many people in southern ontario arent used to seeing people from other places? it would be very hard to find those cases.

isnt this the country of diversity? ofcourse in a country which does not have much of an outside influence, some looks are going to be given. But considering canada is so diverse, i didnt expect it.

and as to the diving thing, there was no reason to pick me out. i had in no way boasted about my diving abilities(actually lack off).

Racial Profiling: ive had many run ins with the cops, none of which i was charged for, or even taken to the station. When im with my black friends, they get harrased i get very light treatment, when im with my white friends, i get harrassed. And this is not in my head. I have others, who were with me at these times, who can attest to my claims. it happens way more than anybody realises.

Well the cop thing sucks for sure. But im still not convinced of the cottage incident. Perhaps they werent from the city? Either way, i think you are being too sensitive here. Imagine if i freaked out in argentina everytime people stared at me as if i had 5 eyes just because i spoke english? Id be a wreck after 4 months!

trust me im not being to sensitive. i wouldnt have said it, if i didnt actually feel awkward. I will say, that was the FIRST time i felt out of place in Canada. Relatives aske me from India, how is racism here. I said i cant complain except for the cops. I always stand up for Canada, and how fairly people are treated here. MOST OF THE TIME.
