Have you noticed....

...That the biggest DJ's in the world dont have the DJ prefix in front of their name? Did they change their name as they became more popular?

i wouldn't want to call myself 'dj' its kinda dumb and a phrase coined all to easily by radio folks who aren't real disc jockeys any way.

but still, im sure in the past there were some good DJ's with DJ prefixes, and decided to change their name. If this is so, what were some famous DJ's names before they changed em to their real names?

i guess they become really well known as dj's and so the term becomes self implied?

thats why i said it, as now a days they press more buttons than not.

I just get that cringe feeling when someone gets announced over the sound system by some corny american accented guy e.g. 'Deeeeeeeeeee Jaaaaaaaaaay Tiiiiiiiieeeeesstoooooooo'

and prefere it to when people just have their dj name, without the prefix 'dj'

The bigger dj's probably have changed and dropped the prefix as their name becomes an icon rather than an introduction.

Which doesnt really make sense anymore, because DJ does stand for DISC JOCKEY.

True, these days the radio jocks don't even get to choose the tracks anymore, they just announce what's coming from the playlist.
