i got 2 500 watt speakers that i connect to a reciver and the reciver to my laptop... works like a charm

if its for computer just spend about 6-90 bucks on a pair of satellites and the sub. Pretty much all speakers rule these days.

If you are specifically looking for nice, I have been very impressed with the Klipsch 5.1 system and the Bose 5.1 I like Klipsch better.

I have the Klipsch as well, you won't be dissapointed if you get them.

I have the Klipsch 5.1 system also. Just like everyone has already stated, awesome sound system.

best bang for your buck is probably logitech speakers, not the greatest sounding but you're not forking over a fortune either for some nice bumping power.

Just bought a Ford Ranger 4x4 Tremor with a 510 watt stereo installed from the factory. F*cking more sound than you can crank in the cab of the little pickup. Really amazed me. At the house got 400W on the computer and 800W in the living room. Got Sony Walkman with so-so power because they reduce volume to save your eardrums while I exercise. So life is music here. Say what?
