I'm freaking out now, I'm about to get my new hardware synth (well in a month or two). I swear I searched this forum untill the search button asked for a restraining order.

Other then the HUGE difference in price, what's the difference between the Virus C/B and that Andromeda ?

On a sidenote : I read somewhere in all those threas the virus B sounds better then the virus C .. is this just the presets, or complete bullsh!t ?

Hey I swear, I'm really sorry to post this thread, but I can't find it lol. I do a search and I get 300 pages. I have a slow connection, I searched 50-70 pages or so, that's about 1 hour of loading time alone. Please help

virus b sounds better is utter bullshit..
it's an upgraded b dsp processor in there with increased polyphony, new efx and stuff

andromeda vs virus.. = true analog synthesis vs virtual analog..
True analog has been known to be a bit warmer. (btw i thought andromeda was discontinued?)
I think the virus will be one of the closest next to the real thing in terms of warmth.

If it comes 'close' then I'm not even thinking about the andromeda anymore. It's price is twice that of the virus... I miscalculated, I thought it was 'only' 500$ more, but it's 1500 more lol .. holy sh...

Virus KC - 3000$
Andromeda A 6 - 3500$

Btw JP8080, does it exist with a keyboard ? Or is that the JP-8000 ?

If it's that big a price difference, I might go for the JP.. but I so want the KC also .. argh

8000 is with keyboard
8080 is pretty much the same as 8000 but without the keyboard (and some less options to tweek (and less polyphony??)

JP-8000 is a keyboard version of JP-8080 with less polyphony.

Virus C sounds the same as Virus B, except has a few extra features like EQ.

The price you found for Virus KC is waaaaaay too high. Don't pay more than maybe $1500-1700 for one?

If you can afford it, go virus. 16 part multitimbral, awesome sound.

JP-80X0 is wonderful (i have one, and a virus), but it is a one-trick pony.

Andromeda is sick, but really expensive.

So the MiniQ is relatively cheap, and seems to be really good.

The one thing I don't like about his review of the Virus C, is that he said that you can always recognize it's a Virus C... I don't really like that idea. He says it has this 'dark' sound to it, that you can not get away from... wtf ?

Also, only 256 user presets .. wow ? I have way more then that after a year of messing around with a synth.. what happens if it's full ? Can't I expand, or save them to my PC HD or something ?

Oh man, these are exciting times hehe. But damn, that MiniQ seems pretty great also, and I could buy some extra stuff with the money I'd save (a friggin laptop!). So I can't really choose. But ... forget about laptop and all that, what I need is that ONE good synth that will keep me busy for a year or two untill I have more cash to buy an extra synth. Actually I think my next big purchase after the synth will be a laptop for live performance, so .. hmm .. this really has to be a great synth lol. Christ man, I'm going nuts for real.

Expandable to 1024 if you're prepared to bin the demo track (I certainly was).

And yes, you save patches to your hard drive, the easiest way being the Virus SoundDiver which is included free with all new Virus C's.

I'll admit to not having heard an Andromeda, but I'm extremely pleased with my Virus C, I can't recommend them highly enough

I'm pretty sure I'm going for the Virus C now. Just not if I'll take the KC or the C. And if the price difference between JP and Virus is very big (JP way cheaper) I think I will go wth the JP. But .. I can't choose really.

About the keyboard. Is the rack version completely useless in live performance or something ? That would kinda be uncool. But it would make sence I guess... hmm. But there's like a 500$ in price difference if you buy the K version right ? That's a lot of money imo. Could get a beast of a soundcard for that money...

Could you guys give some pros and cons from a rack vs a keyboard version ?

I already have this big E-86 'keyboard' from Roland, it's the kind of keyboard that is sample based and sounds like shit. It costed like 1000$ back in the days, people sure do rip off little children huh aahhhh The only thing good about is is that the keys can be used as midi controller, but no knobs or anything can be assigned, so it's just the KEYS, basically good enough to control triggers and input midi notes (like do re mi). It has a mod wheel on it, but I doubt if that would be able to manipulate the sound going from the rack version.

Tips are more then welcome
