headphones

I have some my old Sony MDVR-700-DJ headphones and I've decided it's time to buy a new more comfortable pair. I need some headphones like the Sony's that are rugged and mobile yet most of all, have the best sounding audio. I don't really mind pricing, as long as its not over $200. Please make some suggestions.

Are the Pioneer HDJ1000's any good at all?? What about Technic's RPDH1200?

The Pioneer's are pretty good. I have a couple of friends with them. I prefer the 700's myself for comfort.

I bought the pioneers when the first came out, very comfy, very light, but there was ever so slight weird delay in them, and consequently could never seem to mix quite right, i sold them off and boght another pair of the 700s. The 900 are ugly, but sound fantastic, by the way.

Do they Pioneer's have just as good as sound as the Sony's??

And I guess if it depends on comfort, I'll have to go down to some pro audio store and "try em on" for like 30 minutes

I've had a pair of akg k240 for 8+ yrs. Good unbiased sound (that is the bass is not beefed up) thats why you see them in recording studios. They're also durable but big and clunky, good for home use. Obviously since they're stereo they aren't the choice of djs, unless they sell a model for that purpose. You spend $150+ on headphones you'll get quality, just becomes a matter of personal preference.

I bought a pair of AKG 271S but I ended up returning them because it didn't have enough bass for me. You might want to consider getting a headphone amp if you're going to get these. It has a real nice sound to it though and is crisp and clear. I ended up going for some A900s from Audio Technica. Btw, I wouldn't consider the AKGs and the A900s mobile. They are pretty damn big.

I guess I'm gunna test out the Pioneer headphones and see how they feel. I'm really looking for a drastic increase in comfort rather than just look/performance, so I'll test em and see...

I'm in the same position, and am leaning towards the Pioneers too - but I can't try them on (have to buy them online) so make sure you post your opinion........

I'm also thinking of the Technics RPDJ1210s, any thoughts?
