Trance Record Shops in Los Angeles?

I'm heading down there for vacation, I'm wondering where all the good shops are. Thanks in advance.

Do they have a listening section? The one in NorCal doesn't.

They don't!

About the only good record shop left in LA is in Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys area, the Grooveriders on Ventura Bl just east of Van Nuys BLVD.

www.grooveriders.com

Cheers...

ironically i went to ameoba records today. Check out the collection and it's actually pretty big and good. It'll be a nice choice to check out.

hehehehehe, I believe there is plenty of parking in the back of the store, and I never had a problem getting a parking space on either side of Ventura BL within a block or less distance from the store.

Amoeba records is a great store, except that you really have to know what you are looking for as there are NO listening stations and they won't even let you bring one of those tiny portable 'toy' turntables to preview the records, that sux balls,

I do believe Beat Non Stop is still in business on Melrose, and also look up locations for "Records Recycler" there are several location in and around Los Angeles, give yourself good 5hrs at least to browse their inventory as the records are not categorized, but they do have some consumer turntables to preview the records and cheap prices, I do believe they are cash or charge only, no checks.

Cheers...

if you're willing to go down a bit further than LA, that is, south LA county and into orange county....then there's another couple of stores that i could recommend..

1) world music in rosemead, not a huge selection, but they get the imports the earliest of most other stores that i've been to.
2) music revolution in rosemead/alhambra & anaheim...they don't have a very large or current selection at that, but they have plenty of older records that are very cheap...$3-$4 for some of the older ones.
3) dj culture in costa mesa - these guys are great, they have a varied selection, get all the new stuff, but are a little bit pricey.

there used to be higher source, but they shut down a few months ago. also LA lost another great store when DMC records shut down...larry had such a good thing going, i guess the buzz around the store just died in the last couple of years...

if anybody has any other suggestions, i'm all ears...

DJ Culture I believe belongs to Simply Jeff and Oliver Twist...

Personally, I shop online at www.planetxusa.com and now that Perry has cut shipping costs almost in half, I might order from www.only-djs.com once again. Note on only-djs.com you have to order quite a few records to justify the shipping costs, keep in mind that delivery only takes about 3business days, if that, coming from The Netherlands.

Cheers...

yeah, ure right, dj culture is owned by simply jeff & company...

i never liked planetxusa, i dunno if they changed their shipping system, but they don't let you choose what kind of shipping you want. as long as you have $40 in green categorized records, then they'll pick the shipping for you. once i got them within 2 days, once it took 10 days...

i still like ordering from dancegrooves.com, as long as pascal fixes the problems that they were having with rapid air shipping...

i haven't ordered from only-djs.com, shipping was outrageous, i would have to order like 13-15 records for the shipping for not be a factor...
