Paris & Sharp / Solar Stone - Unreleased EP [Groovestation UK]

A1 Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Paris & Sharp Remix)
B1 Paris & Sharp - Aphrodite (Marcello Castellis Sahara Mix)

ok, the deal with the tracks is that both tracks were commercially unreleased, the paris & sharp mix of seven cities was released but on a test press promo thingy, the remix of aphrodite was just on promos

and the only reason to buy this is the remix of aphrodite which is really good, i like the arabic touch to it, nice percs & nice piano and that slightly haunting vocal is nice indeed

paris & sharp remix of aphrodite is well uhhm crap, the fact that solar stone created this beautiful melody for the original track and paris & sharp only run it once or twice is a shame, and when the lead is being played it's so low and muffled, so it's like you have to fucking put your ear next to the speaker and then crank up the volume. what the fuck was paris & sharp thinking

it is not new at all, but like i said in the first post, both tracks had been released but only on promo and in the seven cities remix in limited white label/testpressing promo

Mattsanity, you don't like progressive, so why comment on a Paris & Sharp remix? Obviously you won't appreciate it.

Anyway, this is a brilliant tune but in fairness it uses few elements of the original. The approach reminds me of the (equally brilliant) Marc O'Tool remix of Urban Train.

get the hell out of this thread and let us praise this mint track

now more seriously, i fail to see how does this qualify to the "ruining a classic". i mean, maybe it's annoying when it's a shit yet popular version of an old track that gets played out all the time when you're clubbing. but this doesn't apply at all, it's surely not popular, it doesn't even sample much the original, if they wanted they could have named it their own production and would have got away with it. and to finish off, i think this is 20 times better than the kiddy annoying wannabe-african vocals of the atlantis mix.

there, enough material to be flamed for a few more pages.

Those aren't progressive, not in the sense we use it today. They are closer to the melodic trance of today than they are to modern progressive house. Based on your post history, you don't like progressive. I'm not implying that you should listen to prog, or that you would be more enlightened if you did, but you shouldn't critique blindly something that you don't fully understand, for the same reasons that I don't say "this song is shit, 0/10" in threads about hardcore or something.

Will definitely get it when I have chance to!
This is the only version I'm fond of for Seven Cities! ;D
The techy dark bassline fit in wonderfully with the guitar
