Xone 92 + EFX 500

Hi there! I need some help! Just got my Xone 92 (Awesome mixer)and I'm having trouble hooking up my EFX 500 to it. I tried the send and returns connections like in the manual and I'm not getting any sound. I don't want to connect it thru the output of the mixer cos I wanna be able to apply the effects to individual channels. Plus i think if u connect it through the mixer output it'll degrade the sound quality of the Xone.

wire it up the the send &Rtn, make sure you have all the appropriate channels selected and the fx unit is on thew right setting too..

Its that way with all Allen & Heath mixers. This is because there is no switch you can flip to send the signal through the EFX, the only thing there is, is the 'aux send' which doesn't work the same way as a normal send/return. The only way I think it will work the way we all want it to is by using a matrix switch that every thing plus into, kinda like a patchbay. They use them in some clubs. Basicly everything plugs into this first, then it gets pluged into the mixer, so when you flip any one of its six channels, that channel(s) will be effected by the EFX. This is the only way it will work. I would like to get one for my mixer, but I heard these matrix switches are custom made. I looked all over the place for something like it and have found none so far.

try the hamster switch on the back of the efx to make sure you have it set right. it either cuts or boosts the signal by 10dB i think

This is the reply I got from other forums. Hope it helps!

Example:

Leads from aux 1 out -> EFX500 in.
Leads from EFX500 out -> Xone92 channel 1 line in

Control the amount of live FX by pushing channel 1's upfader. Control the amount of sent signal by using the aux 1 knob on each of the channels

NOPE. Thats the only draw back to A&H mixers. I also run out of hands, and don't want to mess around with the faders

On the A&H 92, the mic channels double up at the rtn channel. They have an operating switch which can be flicked on and off to engauge the fx. there is no massing about with volume sliders or anything.. Also you can select pre or post fade for the out put signal you use. So you arent messing about with any volume faders or anything. Once you find your level thats it, you dont require to me about with the volume sliders to adjust it..

hrrrm...

still sounds like a bit of a farse. the switches on the efx500 are made specifically for that. plus there is a big difference between applying an effect, and getting pure wet effect, which again, the switches and knobs are made for.

never mind eh, i don't really care i'm never gonna buy a xone92

*starts saving for nuo5*
