The Stem Mastering/Mixing Method.

i was reading my new issue of Electronic Musician. They pointed out a relatively new technique called stem mixing. Rather than making 1 single stereo image, you can split ur tracks into....drums, bass, vocals, backup vocals, and other. this helps u to be able to master/mix more creatively. any of you guys use this? im thinking of trying it out ;p

info tidbit: This is the same method used for film/tv sound. the 4 main stems are dialog, sound effects, foley, and music.
once each of those stems are pre-mixed, they are mixed into a whole final product..... thus... "stem mixing"
