Ditto, they didn't even look like they were playing hard. If they are going to play half assed and be a disgrace to our country i'd rather have some college kids who actually will play hard be there instead of them. I haven't seen anyone shoot that bad in a long time.

They are good players, But they are still young, Anyways, They still have a shot at winning a gold medal, If they can play better on there upcomming matches.
Do any of you realize that the U.S team have played together for only 7 games while every other international team has played together for years? The U.S team is great but they're not perfect, and they will eventually learn from their mistakes of their loss to Puerto Rico and conquer the Basketball tournament and win the Gold Medal.

Excuses, excuses. Recognize the fact that other nations are getting better at the sport. Plus, the egos of these players don't help.
Should've sent the And 1 crew to the olympics.

Well the fact that they had no time to train is THEIR fault. I blame it on the players who backed out with no time to spare. This is something that should be planned a year at least in advance and they should get signatures of those who will participate. There should also be numerous meetings and chances to play ahead of time. This isn't 1992, you can't just show up and win.
Well in response to other nations getting better... Of course they are getting better, the teams that are the best in the world all have players playing the NBA. The best players of Serbia, Croatia, Puerto Rico, China, are all NBA players. I don't think EGOS are in play any more, perhaps it was against Italy but once they got beat they realized they aren't invincible.
The AND 1 crew would have at least put a little excitement into the game!

Seeing how a lot of people thought that Puerto Rico was a nice 'warm-up' game, I think the US are in for a treat
And making up excuses for their suckage is kinda late now, since you already praised them into heaven in the other thread about olympic basketball

I personally don't think they are going to when the gold this year. Maybe not even bronze. They lost to puerto rico... not even a "major" contender. They were struggling with others teams as well.

exactly the way I feel but replace the and 1 crew cause they cant shoot either with the Harlem Globetrotters, they never lose......
the USA is trying but they just dont have the organization of the other countrys cause of the lack of training.Plus they dont play defence and have offensive plays like the other countrys, big mistake. Like I said in another thread next time the U.S should pick a good shooter and a true point gaurd (they dont have to be superstars).
damn we suck

Do I hint some excuses for this "dream team"? Put simply, its a shit team, and no matter how much preperation they have, they still will be a shit team (Marbury, Marion, Boozer???). They play stuff all defence, and cant put up a shot outisde of 15 feet. The dream team theme began and ended in '92.
"They play the game the way it's supposed to be played," Iverson said. "It's not about athletics. That's the game the way Karl Malone and John Stockton play it. It's good for kids to see how the game is supposed to be played."
If the good ol' US of A had any sense, they'd send a college team next time round.
