Joe Drust on Proton Radio
Joe Drust
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Joe Drust is one of the few DJs who has been able to bring an entire room to tears during their set. At the same time, very few DJs have had their first gig at a funeral home. Being the only non family member at a funeral service he was asked to sit in the corner and play a few songs from a boom box. The last track, the always memorable Its time to say goodbye.? Afterwards he was thanked by a family member who joked, If you ever become a DJ you say this was your first gig! Little did they know¦ A trip to Europe and a few trips up and down the QEW to Toronto a year later set him off to bring a little bit of this thing called âhouse? home to Buffalo. Not an easy task in a city where the word house was only associated with something with four walls and a roof, not turntables and a mixer. The programming and mixing often find their influences derived from classical musical composition and movie scores. Through regular gigs and the internet his sounds that range from tribal to tech and progressive have definitely become nothing to be shedding tears over any longer. His passion for the way music can move a crowd is not only catching on in Buffalo but in many other areas as well.
