Not to mention certain research on the arpeggiated, hypnotic layering of trance and those ambient washes were common (without a four-to-the-floor beat) many years earlier in the form of the work of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, and others. So add a kick drum and meaty bass and you're almost set to go. Of course, the tricks have increased over the years like a stabby, echoed (delayed) sound effect at the beginning of 4/8 bars, or panned gate effects moving inside the speakers back and forth, but the core principles are indeed the same.
Pshhh... when in doubt, invent your own genres.
DJ Joshua H: Haha... it's funny that list was last updated in '02. Oh boy are we in for timeshock.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
