"White Noise Snare"

Yo, I've been wondering lately on how to do those "white noisish" snares found in a lot of epic trance production (Ex.: Signum productions use'em often, Pulser - My Religion). If someone could explain me how this is obtained in Reason (Probably using the subtractor and some kind of enveloppe)...

Please help!

No. This is NOT what I'm talking about... And yes I know what a clap is... I know they are mixing the clap with what I'm talking about to have that sound.

Someone else?

Those are not white noise claps. What it is is a normal clap with lots of reverb. The decay of the reverb, or the tail if you wanna call it that, is suddenly cutoff. You're looking at a total length of the clap of roughly < 400ms.

I also find certain compression settings also add to the effect aswell & make it sound closer to the bass drum

Cool

where did my post go?

anways it is a clap, just clever use of reverb + compressors to get that kind of effect, and on my religion is has a reverse clap inbetween every other clap too
