God, where to start.

To start with, Nu NRG are trance artists. Check out a bit of info HERE.

As for the DJ sets thing, well a DJ plays in a club (or at home lol) and yes, they basically mix various tracks together. As one song plays, they match the next song to the same speed, and as the first song comes to end, they mix the next song in to make one seamless transition.

Remixes are where artists take a track and change it. They might not change very much, maybe just the overall format of the song, or sometimes they remake a tune almost to the point where it's unrecognizable as a remix of the original. Either way, they change it (in their opinion) for the better.

Lastly, there are many different genres of electronic dance music (EDM). The main ones would be house, trance, jungle, R'n'B (aka crap ) and maybe techno. Then there are many different sub-genres, such as progressive trance, funky house, and minimal techno. It's all very complicated. The main way to understand the little differences would be to listen to a set by a DJ who plays techno or whatever, and then just see what he plays.

Anyway, hope that gets you started. And welcome to TA.

Nu-NRG was also a name of a music genre now known as simply NRG (it's not new anymore, hehe).

Prime Mover - Here's Johny

There's an example of NRG. I find the "NRG" genre a lot more interesting than the "Nu-NRG" artists.

The genres have slowly merging, but hard house and nrg are not quite the same thing

Well to be honest, I've never even considered 'NRG' to be a genre. It makes more sense to me to use it as a description. I've never heard anyone say:

"Do you know so-and-so??"

"Yeah, he's an NRG DJ"

It just doesnt seem right. So I think I'll carry on in blissfull ignorance and call it hard house, like everybody else.
