Read This! Bassline Geometry

How many cool basslines have you heard in Trance songs?

The simplest bassline is what I call the "singular" one, that goes like this: .-,-.-,-

(. is kick and , is snare) Each bass sound falls right between two drum beats.

But there are many others I've heard. Some are continuous, others aren't.

For example:

(drums) . , . ,
(bass) -_-_-_

(- and _ two different bass sounds, but overall the bass is continuous). Examples: Major League - Wonder, Sisko - Light over Me.

The PHATTEST bassline I've ever heard is from Jon the Dentist - Imagination.

what cool basslines have you heard?

I love PvD's basslines even though they're used in almost all of his songs/remixes...but hey, its kind of the guys signature. I also DuMonde's basslines...always kickin.

I like the bassline in Flight 643, Tiesto used the same one in his remix of Coast 2 Coast - Home.

If you ant a heavy rolling bassline check out the track called Reformatted by Sonic Infusion

Max Graham and Digweed approved

mmmmmmmmmmmmm, fattttttttt-assssssssssss bassssssssssssss

i live for bass

hehehe, i like that low-constant-rumbling bass. i cant describe it any better than that. an example would be Jericho II- Twirling, and with a nice amp: trance cowboys- be free.

i hear that kind of bass at big parties and it just cant be replicated on a home or car stereo the way i like it. its like being inside music. if that makes sense...hehehe

what about that bass that sounds like "reverse-bass" (dont know how to describe it better) like in alot of picotto's older songs. kinda like "waan waan waan" or somthin. i dunno what exactly you'd call it, but its wicked.

and string-bass, it sounds awsome in trance songs, like robert miles- full moon (taucher remix) has that sound, its goooood!

for one ultimate fat-ass bassline, check out the mix of mauro picotto- iguana on seb fontaine's Prototype 2 album. omg, thats bass!

Thats called the off beat bassline Eugene, its a very simple bassline
use in most styles of dance, like, Trance, Techno and House. Its best sounding above 145 bmp when both the bassline and the kick seam to be as one.

all thow its being used less and less over the years now. They are starting to add a bit more movement in the bassline area now with the likes of Lange setting the new trends.
