Oh crap, a v6. Sorry can't help you there mate, it's not a usual DJ mixer so I had no experience with it. Make sure you have a limiter behind the mixer. If so, you don't have to worry about blowing up the amp/speakers.

If a Xone V6 isn't a real DJ mixer, then it follows that a Urei isn't either?

Well the V6 has a seperate eq unit, just like the Rane rotary. The club should have the eq unit, but if not get there eary to try it out.

I'm almost positive that the place I'm playing at doesn't have an EQ unit. I've seen a lot of V6 units in clubs and I can't say I've ever seen an EQ unit accompanying it. I don't think the one i'm playing at tonight has one either. I was under the impression that you used the filters to mix.

There's nothing wrong with rotary knobs, but the only one I ever had to work with was a Gemini CS-19R when it just came out for quick testing (looked like a nice mixer). Never had the A&H, it's not a popular mixer so it's ordered on demand. And since no one wanted it, I never ordered one . That's why I didn't have a chance to test one

ok, so, the filters that are on each channel are high-pass filters. what this means, is that you can cutoff frequencies from low to high. In the 30Hz position, everything 30Hz and above is heard. turn the knob clockwise and you can get rid of all the low end, up to 600Hz on those filters. Basically, you'd be left with the lower mids cut-off.

so essentially, you can cut the bass of the channel, using the filters.... hence... yes you can mix with it.

just so you know, filters, are basically selective forms of EQ, with a pre-specified amount of attenuation... you just select the frequency.

What else that's unique about the V6 is that it's got a master output EQ. You can EQ the main output, thereby effect the entire mix. If the club doesn't have the EQ units, then you're left with the filters and the master EQ to mix with. THis mixer is extensively high quality in build and sound. Just a suggestion to be nice to the sound techs at the club, never let any of the channel input levels go into the red. creep into the blue, but not more.

ended up not having to use it tonight. they switched back to the Rane. I went up to the room where the V6 is installed and familiarized myself with all the functions. It doesn't seem to hard to mix with.
