Finalscratch 2.0

Well it looks like Stanton are about to release this to the public, info on this is pretty much unofficial except, the new product has a whole new Scratch Amp, with this amp it has the usual RCA jacks, it also has a Midi In/Out, Gain control for channells 1 and 2, plus mic, a 3.5mm jack, along with the usual 1/4 inch jack, and a volume knob for them, that is all fact, the rumors though are that this is gonna be a Serato killer, its gonna be 10 times better and have 10 times the features, this all seems fine and dandy, but Stanton have lost respect and trust from loads of users because of the older shoddy software and hardware, and there amazing lack of support for the consumers, so this should get interesting, I'll keep this thread upto date, but please post any info you might have about this, and of course opinions are always welcome.

Can't say for sure, but I think they would have, would be stupid to bring out good hardware and still have the same old shitty software.

Well crap's a big word. It's pretty interesting how this technology developes.

Meanwhile, there are still numerous dj software that can do the same thing. A friend of mine develops DjDecks, which is a very interesting program.

I've heard good things about that, theres also, Mixvibes DVS, Ms Pinky, SSL, BPM Studio Digi Scratch, then like mentioned DJDecks and now FS2.0.

All these should course some good competition for better products and lower prices.

I never had any major problems with my FS, but I always had more fun mixing on real vinyl more and for me that's what it's all about. It's an awesome tool for playing tracks that you can't get on vinyl.
Here is the list of new features for Final Scratch 2 software: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?fs2features_us

Anyone know what the deal is with the MIDI?

Is it a MIDI clock output for the BPM or something? As long as it is accurate I guess this could be good for FX units or Ableton Live.

It uses a firewire port :-S I dont think my notebook has one. I use a Toshiba Satellite 1135. I checked the specs and it says it has an IEEE 1284 port whereas FS2 requires a IEEE 1394 port. Anybody know if you can pay to get a firewire port installed into ur laptop??? HELP!! LOL

Interesting how they went with Firewire instead of say, USB 2.0. I wonder if Firewire has a smaller latency? The problem with this is that very few (any??) PC laptops have Firewire, they all have USB 2.0. Perhaps a majority of their users use Mac laptops, in which case they're not affected at all (all Macs have Firewire).
