Reducing Skipping?

Hey everyone,
The table on which I regularly use my turntables isn't the sturdiest. It seems to be inducing a lot of skipping. Is there any way to reduce skipping (I've already tried the counterweights) besides getting a new table?
Thanks.

What turntables are we talking about?
If the counterweight part doesn't work, the anti skating may be too high OR your turntable isn't horizontal.

Same problem here. I made my table sturdier by screwing in some pieces of wood as supports on the underside... I wish I had a way to take a pic to show you.

I'm still going to get a new table in the near future. Prolly gonna go with 2 stacks of 3 milk crates filled with bricks. Put a board of wood on top, then a few more bricks to bring the height of the decks to a more comfortable level, then another board on top to set the tables.

Something like this...

Turntable.....Mixer.....Turntable
--------------board--------------
....brick..............brick
--------------board--------------
milk crate.............milk crate
milk crate.............milk crate
milk crate.............milk crate

(Please ignore the dots... I couldn't get my ghetto diagram to space correctly) I figure full of bricks, the crates would make the table quite solid. I'll even have a shelf from the lower board.

try freefloats they're quite an amazing contraption !

Only other reasons I can think off is that you need to adjust your anti-skate and/or your needle is really old

I have Stanton Str8-80s. I'm still using the needles that came with them two years ago. Looks like I need to go get some new ones.

yeah the styli need replacing. you should replace them approx every 6 months or so (depending on how much hammer you give them).

if they still fuck up you can try adjusting the tonearm height up a notch or two, but re-balance the tonearm afterwards
