A&H Xone:92 vs. New Rane Rotary

I'm planning on getting one of two mixers in the next few weeks. Either the new Rane, with the compressor unit or the Xone 92. My interest in the Rane is that it's pretty much club standard, its a tank as far as its build, and the sound quality and feel is awesome. I've been playing on one every Friday at the club i spin at, and love it, except for the inability to cue multiple channels, which is being remedied in the new version. My other half wants to go with the flashier Xone: 92 with rotary knobs. I really like the idea of having all the filters, which I feel add a whole other dimension to my mixing. Whereas I've played with the rane before, I've never tested out the Allen and heath. I previosuly owned a Xone:62 and really wasn't impressed, but a lot of people claim the Xone: 92 is a step up. I have a few questions about the Xone though. First, how do the rotary knobs feel? Tight like the Rane? I'm also curious as to wheather or not you can hear eq changes in the headphones. On the 62 you couldn't unless you fucked with a fdew swithes, and even then, the changes were only isolated to one headphone cup. Other than that, just trying to get a feel for what other people think about both mixers. Thanks for any help.

Thumbs up

We have a Xone 92, and are loving it. It's definitely, by far the best mixer out there. We have the linear version though, so I can't tell you how the rotary knobs feel.

You will have alot more fun, and the sound will be very deep and tight on the Xone.

You should also check out the brand new Crest Audio CP6210 mixer + CP6220 Expander Unit. It looks like a Rane but with more features, like 4band EQ on master, panning on each channel, and it is quite cheaper than rane(about 200-250 USD cheaper). If I had the money to spend, I'd definately go for the Xone 092 Rotary.

Cheers....

i had the older rane and the a&h 92 rotary....as far as sound quality goes i would say the rane was more cleaner sounding but has no balls whatsoever.....the 92 definately has a better low end but i didn't like the knobs on it...they seemed awkward for lack of a better word ......i have sold both and went back to a vestax pmc 46 mk2.....for more than half the price.....i don't recommend this mixer because i use it.....i recommend it because after using all these mixers i have seen the 46 stands up to all of them in build ...the knobs are laid out well and and the mixer is basic with just what u need.....although it doesn't support listen to mutiple channels in 1 cup u can split cue if u want.....it also looks stupid....but looks aern't everything ......for 649 USD its well worth it....u can take the other money u save and get more gear!!for the house its perfect.................try it if u can....u might save yourself alot of money

can you hear eq changes while monitoring in the headphones while using the 92? Also, how would you compare the feel of the knobs on the Xone ot the Rotary. On the rane, the knobs are nice and tight, and turn really smoothly...

nice. so just to confirm this...you CAN hear the eq changes in the headphones, unlike the Xone : 62....on the 62 you could hear eq changes in the headphones but you can do go through some weird function in order to do it.

The cue system on the Xone 92 is one of the main reasons why we got the unit. You can switch on the post eq button (conveniently placed abore the split cue button) in the monitor section, and hear all the eq's in your headphones. It is relatively easy to use, and very precise.

Hope that helps you.. if you need any further information, check out:
