Question Stanton str-60

Is this a good turntable to start DJ-ing?? Or what do you recommand for a starting DJ, i want new tables. Yes I know that Technics are the best, but wat is a very good alternative. If you want to help me please only post Numark or something but also the type

THANX!

Well I still use them.... in a few days my new technics will arrive... I have used technics the different is huge

I definatly appretiate the technics more learning on the stantons.. if money is a issue go with the stantons because they are best for there buck but if you can afford technics 1200/1210 series get them because they are the industry standard in turntables and if you do gigs all over the world that is what u would use, I know all the local clubs where I am from have technics and thats all. Its really in your court in the end but thats what I have found. For learning how to mix they are very good but to get the little extras etc the things u only notice when u have skill built up... hope this can help u abit

I would advise against getting the str8-60, or any of the str8 series for that matter, due to the straight tonearm system. You would be much better off going for the Numark TT-2 or Gemini PT-2100, which have an S-shaped tonearm. The straight tonearm will munch up your records a lot faster than the S-shaped and is completely useless unless you are a scratch DJ (which I'm assuming you're not, considering this is a trance forum).

KarateKid It's a good idea.

It's a good idea. The top three tables in the world are Technics, Vestax, and str8-80. I would definatly say go with st8-80's instead of the st860's. It would cost more but be a world of difference considering it's ranked the third best turntable.
Just do that and whatever you do.....
STAY AWAY FROM NUMARK AND GEMINI!!! EVIL!!

I can assure you, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the Gemini PT-2100. I haven't used the TT-2, so I can't speak for that, but the PT-2100 is a very good turntable. It has almost the same torque as the Technics and feels very solid and robust. My friend who has them has only had them for about 3 or 4 months, so I don't know how they will last in the long term, but I can't imagine that they would break down that easily. They are the closest (cheap) alternative to Technics that I have seen.

i currently own a pair of str8-80's
and yea their good for starting off
but the tech 12's really do 'feel' better
ive gone to a few clubs and spun there and really the 1200's give a bettter feel to spinnin
the pitch control and the platter just 'feels' different

budget wise get the str8-80's..
im not a big fan of gemini/numark so i woulnd't advise getting those
but tahts just my opinon...

vextex decks are good but i think their too expensive..
hmm..
hasn't this dicussion been going around this forums already?
try doing a search on 'stanton'
you'll find tons of info
anyhow
ttyl
