Its getting old. There have been lots of more recent disasters that take priority over 911. How about a minute of silence for all those poor russian kids that died when some retards decided it would be a good idea to hold up a school.

How does tributing something get old?

A Tribute is a rememberance.

Everything gets old after a while. Its been 3 years, about time to forget and move on with your lives. If someone wants to remember , thats fine, but let him do it quietly. No need to open possible old wounds for anybody else right.

No i disagree with you. I think these are exactley the type of things we need to remember. A tribute to the honor and misfortune of the innocent lives lost that day is a positive thing, not negative.

What you are saying is typical anti-American rhetoric. People who hold American in contempt for the world's problems almost always undermind 9.11 and say there are far worse atrocities that should be remembered. But no trajedy, whether it be 9.11, Russian children, Rawanda etc) should be forgotten - they are equally horrific events that affect countless people.

The problem with your "tribute"-thread is that is draws forth some lives as more important than others, and that is why you are probably going to have a hard time drumming up enthusiasm.
Why didn't you make a thread on the anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan? Or Iraq? Didn't the loads of people killed in those places warrant a mention from you?
I have a very negative impression of you, so maybe I am wrong on this one, but so far you seem to be very much a person who values US lives (and even comfort) much higher than the well-being of people in the rest of the world. I am (of course) ready to be corrected by a clear-cut link.
But if I am right, then please go away.

This isn't my thread...someone else made one and it got closed. All i did was re-post one and ask "WHY" his got closed. So this thread is not a tribute per se.

How does remembering a trajedy on it's anniversary date make it that some lives are more important then others. With your logic why have funerals, birthdays and/or any rememberances or anniversarys of any sorts. Because ulitmatly they are all tributing to one or a selected group of individuals and excluding countless others.

You ask if they warrant a mention from me? I guess they do. The innocent should always be remembered.

But your statement is quite absurd. Why is when an American wants to remember an American trajedy (9.11, Pearl Harbor etc) they also have to recount every other life lost at the hands of the American government. Yet on the flip side if an Iraqi came in here and posted a rememberance to his fallen neighbors you would not demand the same from him? Patently absurd.

You are judging me on my past posts in my first years on TA. Which i agree were very close-minded and quite pathetic. However i have changed my views on the world and regard ALL life as equal...so ling as it is innocent life. For example here is something i did which most people who know me on here would not beleive. When Iran had that huge earthquake months back and something like 25,000 people died...i threw a fit to everyone i knew how it was barely even mentioned in American media yet 9.11 was tlaked about for so long...i was really pissed about that...and still am...so i have changed....

i am still for the war though....

I hate this political correct crap. Just because someone wants to remember a day that is important in their country they have to remember every event from every country in the world? Thats just absurd.

Sorry but 9/11 hits home to Americans more, because we live here. We don't know what is happening in Rwanda firsthand or Sudan. If there is a Sudanese man or a Russian who wants to put forth memory for those lost in the school tradgedy we wouldn't hold anything against them.

And about it getting old, we do this so we DON'T FORGET, thats the whole point. You want this moment burned in your brain so you know what it feels like and it never happens again. Maybe you need someone to drive up to your house and blow your family up for you to understand.

Geez if people don't like the thread then don't read it and let it die out, locking it was just wrong.

Either way, Im sure there are better ways to remember lost ones (be it 9/11 or any other tragedy) than by posting messages on an anonymous board.
