Using cracked versions of software
I am wondering what the production forum concensus is on using cracked version of your favorite software; from instruments, to effects, to mastering.
I dont post here alot, but it seems like many people constantly have problems with all types of software which begs the question: "Is your software cracked"? Maybe its just me, but if you download the newest synths, waveform editing software, and mastering applications, and expect each to work perfectly, youre deluding yourself even more than you are by avoiding purchasing the software. Besides taking away from the makers of your favorite programs, it also has the potential side effects of corrupting hours of work with a simple mis-click, and allows small software vendors to be snapped up by large corporations with deeper pockets, further alienating those who want to support a music community rather than a corporation.
Im not expecting admissions, but alot of people should think about where their priorities lie. I hear so many people on this forum, and in widely dispersed chat rooms and other forums discussing how they want to make millions, be the next Tiesto, this years G&D, etc. Yet to do this, they are stealing from the very music community that they expect to support them. This type of hipocracy is standard in every musical genre, but I always hope for better from the people around here, particularly this forum, which has such a strong production and live peformance forum. If youre one of those who uses the excuse of "sampling" a program's abilities for years, please consider those who make the software and are trying to do their part to make the trance community grow. As dozens of artists have shown over the years, it's fairly easy to make a trance song with a proper amount of dilligence and creativity, but to add something indelible to the trance scene remains a goal as elusive as the Holy Grail.
Just a small opinion I felt like I had to post.
