Reducing, yes, Reducing Stereo Width

Many times I find that my percussion loops or samples in general have too much stereo width.

So, I was thinking, why not use Waves S1 to reduce the stereo width of the sample instead of increasing it. I find that this makes the elements sit better than when it is not used. Anyone have the same experience?

I only ask but you don't hear much about using S1 or other similar programs to decrease the stereo width.
