Has this ever been talked about before? I think it's a cool idea...
We can have awards for stuff like most posts this year, best track identifier, most direct downloads offered, longest thread, rookie of the year, TA of the year... etc. All nominated and voted for by us

Cool idea but maybe we should stick to the music side of things...this is a music forum btw. If we made one where people got voted many would bitch like they did in the "TA celebrities" thread so voting for people is not a good idea in my eyes.

Maybe we could have one @ the end of the year w/ things like best single, album, liveset, producer of the year, etc.

I would tend to agree with you on that, i dont think voting for ppl on this site would be a good idea, it would create too much rivalry which is something we are trying to get away from and to promote better relations between us TA's

but at the end of the year a thread for best single, album, liveset, producer of the year, etc. is a great idea teknohead

naww.I think rivalry among us would be a bad thing, if u think somebody is making a good contribution, like IDing tracks, then congratulate them with a PM, not an entire thread.

but the best(not most popular) production, CD, set etc for the end of year would be cool.

I think "highest post count" might be bad idea But "most pointless thread" and "longest post" etc... would be a laugh. It's all in good sprits afterall. Don't want to get too serious now do we? Maybe split it into forums (i.e. music forum awards, track identification forum awards, dj zone awards & chillout awards. Or something.

As long as it's made clear that it's all in good spirts and people should in no way begin submitting their entries for next years contest. More of which you'll read in my upcoming 12 pager about why a longest-post competition could be a winner

some awards can be beneficial in some ways... awards like most direct downloads and most tracks identified would encourage people to become more active in all aspects of the forums... don't you think?

I thought about this idea too (well, I was thinking to give a prize only to the most marcant TA - like in everything he does for the forum) but yet this I found hard to decide. I mean, who should decide? even thru vote, there might be some conflicts, to give a bad vote to someone just because U had a problem with him. So I'd drop the idea. We are not here for contest.

though I would like to give a special contribution prize to Swamper. And I am not sucking up on the chief, but more and more I see how much dedication he has for this site, and I know that trance is the main thing that animates these desires he has... so to him we must all be thankfull.

yeah this could be quite fun... if we were gunna nominate ppl on the TA boards, then the categories would have to be stupid so that no-one actually gained any respect for it... like on the GC forum, they had, randomest poster, best lookin member that had a name rhyming with fish... stuff like that

if we have actual awards.. then we would have to make threads for nominations (and only count the ones that get the most nominations) then make a poll thread like jddark did about most underrated (bcoz that was the only one we couldnt agree on hehehe)
