Read This! Soundcard help!!!

I stated before on this forum that I bought this souncard:

http://productsen.terratec.net/modu...order=0&thold=0

It has an external box.. but how do I record stuff from the external box (lets say Optical In.. or Microphone)? cause I can hear the sounds coming through Windows XP... but I havent found any way at all to record the sound into Cubase.. I have tried Wavelab too with no result..

anybody have an idea on this issue?

then check in cubase the devce settings.. you have to activate the inputs in the "device settings" somewhere (can't remember how it's called exactly..)

I couldnt find anything in the device settings.. this is really starting to piss me off.. I bought the soundcard mainly for recording.. and the shit doesnt work

AND... why the fuck did I buy a new soundcard when my CPU no longer can run the old projects, cause the card uses too much CPU... (damn) It seems kinda stupid to go BACK to the onboard soundcard.. but it seems like I got no damn choice..

my CPU is 2500+ if anyone would like to comment

That's a fairly decent CPU. You shouldn't be having a problem there. Check the ASIO Panel Setup and make sure you have it checked. Then it will run a test.

What version of cubase are you running?

If you can hear the sounds coming through, the drivers must be working. Personally I don't like terratec cards, but the problems you're having are rediculous. Once you're in cubase make sure you're running on the ASIO drivers. You might also check:

settings/control panel/sound and audio devices/audio/

and check the sound playback and sound recording, or at least see what's going on. Do you still have your onboard soundcard switched on? If not, you should switch that off either in BIOS, or with a jumper. You should be able to run them side by side, but it could be giving you troubles. Especially if everything thinks that is what's supposed to be recorded.
