EDDIE AMADOR
(YOSHITOSHI RECORDS)

18+

be there and enjoy one of the best of his kind.

Known almost as much for his obsessive dedication to the science and theory of production as he is for his crystal clean mixing skills, Eddie Amador, responsible for the seminal anthems “House Music” and “Rise”, has evolved into something far greater than simply a hit-making super-producer ; he has become something of a prophet and house music visionary. Born and raised in the Southwest United States, Eddie was exposed to a wide range of musical styles from a young age. From the latin-rhythms that dominated the airwaves of his local neighborhood to the disco and groovy-soul of Marvin Gaye and Earth, Wind and Fire popular at the time, the influence of those early years can still be felt in Eddie’s music today. As hip-hop entered the scene, Eddie found himself captivated with the raw energy of the lyrics and tough beats. He would actually become a successful hip-hop DJ for a number of years before a chance invitation to an “underground” warehouse party transformed Eddie’s minor interest in dance music into a full-fledged obsession. Fascinated with the relationship of dance music to mathematics, Eddie, studying to be a mechanical engineer at Arizona State University, completed his degree and moved to Los Angeles in 1996 with the intention of applying mathematical and scientific equations to the production of house music. It would take nearly a year for all the pieces to fall into place while Eddie worked as an engineer during the day and slowly mastered the skills necessary to create tunes at night. But the end result of that year was the adequately titled track, “House Music.” Centered on the simple statement: “Not everyone understands House Music. It’s a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing” – Eddie’s first song would take the scene by storm and make him an international sensation overnight. Immediately signed to Deep Dish’s YoshiToshi label and released in 1998, the track was licensed extensively and rocked clubs worldwide. A year later, Eddie would follow up with “Rise” and confirm his status as a hit-maker, the track catapulting to the top 20 of the UK national chart immediately upon release. In the years since, Eddie has been in demand as a DJ and remixer worldwide. Remixing tracks for labels like Ovum, CAUS-N’FF-CT, Azuli and Deep Touch, Eddie continues to turn out the deep and groovy hits for YoshiToshi as well as the deeper, more forward-thinking bits for his newly formed Mochico imprint. Created specifically as an outlet for the more adventurous and forward-thinking creations of Eddie’s alter ego, Mochico is poised to redefine house music as we know it. “My mission is to take the classic elements of house and infuse it with technology to create a redefined, streamlined form of music that has twice as much soul and twice as much energy but with just as much groove,” Eddie explains. With the mind of a scientist and a level of creative genius that never ceases to amaze, Eddie Amador remains the one to watch as the underground begins the slow and often painful process of shedding its old skin and evolving into something completely new.
